I also have a Ranma FanFic in mind after fully writing this one. My e-mail address is bd981@@ yfn.ysu.edu if you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or questions. I hope to hear from you! ----------------------------------------------------------------- << ONE >> "And I could see the eyes that turned to me, every moment of my life. And I saw that your eyes weren't on me. It meant you didn't care. I knew that I wouldn't be able to win your love; even if I tried, it would be the same. I would always be here in the darkness, waiting for something that would never happen. Maybe I do want you close to me all the time. Maybe I do want you all to myself. But my heart tells me it would be wrong, my heart tells me that I'm too sentimental. Just like I never see, you never hear. You didn't give me a chance -- or did you? So why do I do it? Because I love you... ...and you never believe me." Sean Chaz was reclining at home, watching the reply of the concert of Elizabeth Chaz. His mother was a wonderful singer. Was. Sean closed his eyes an thought about her for a long while. God he loved his mother. He remembered when he was younger, and older, and everything in between. He sighed sadly and went to sleep. * * * Thomas Chaz walked down the hall to the central briefing room of the Grandale Colony outpost of U.N. Spacy. As he stepped in the path of the approaching door, it slid open, allowing him entrance into the room. A rather short man was sitting in a chair, looking over several papers that were scattered about the table in front of him. His brown hair was thinning on the top of his head, and he looked rather tired. He stood up when Chaz walked into the room. "Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Chaz," the Captain Gerald greeted him. Chaz was a man of average height. His hair was thinning at the top, just as the Captain's is, and stood at attention. He was a charismatic person, but vicious if one would get on his bad side. "Yes sir," the Mgysgt saluted, then shook his hand, "you called me for a new assignment?" The Captain cleared his throat. "Please, have a seat." Chaz sat down across from him. "U.N. Spacy has been experimenting with a drug that increases the reactive potential of our Valkyrie pilots for a few years now." "Yes, I've heard." The Captain handed him a file. "Then you also know about the rumors of the side-effects. Our medical experts argue that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. But I'm concerned about moral implications of it." The Captain sat back in the seat. "There are also rumors that the drug seems to be addictive in some ways, and that several small samples have been somehow leaked into the public at-large of this colony." Chaz opened the file and glanced at the paperwork. "What side- effects are there?" "The entire research of the drug in your hands, but I will try to touch on the material that I remember. The drug, named E.I.A. for 'Electrical Impulse Accelerator'. It is supposed to do just that. It enhances the speed of the electrical impulses from the brain to the various muscles of the body. It is also increase the calculating speed and ability of the subject -- for determining attack or defense patterns. "The side-effects however, vary from subject to subject. The most prominent ones are increased tension, muscular spasms, amnesia, temporary and permanent paralysis, and even more." Chaz was puzzled. "Why is this drug so addictive?" "I know not if it was creation flaw, or deliberate, but it has an 'ecstatic vision' term attached to it." "Excuse me sir? An ecstatic vision?" "From files and word of mouth, the drug induces sexual gratification within the subject for the duration of the drug's effect, accompanied by a vision of the subject's interest when the drug is first administered. The subject's interest is usually a member of the opposite sex." Chaz nodded. "So, what is it you would have me do?" "I am assigning you to a committee to totally investigate all implications of this drug." "I'll do my best sir." Chaz stood up. "I should certainly hope so." "And, sir?" "Yes?" the Captain said. "Off the record sir, I was wondering if I could have a favor." The Captain thought for a moment. "What is it?" "My son has a deep admiration for the U.N. Spacy Valkyries and flight simulators. I was wondering if it was possible for him to be able to fly in one of the Valkyrie simulators here on this base." The Captain thought again. "Normally, policy says no. Since you are one of the best enlisted personnel on this base, not to mention a good friend of mine, I'll see what I can do. Bring him by my office tomorrow afternoon." "Yes, sir." * * * "Test number 101B, Doctor," the assistant announced to the doctor. He was a tall, ominous looking individual, glasses framing his long face. His hair was short and cropped at the base of his skull. "Good, begin treatment," Doctor Delear said. "Initiating brain-wave scan...blood-pressure normal." "Administer E.I.A.," the doctor stood up from his computer terminal. The assistant took a syringe, and inserted it in the back of the neck of the unconscious man that was laying face down on the table. The fluid drained from the syringe into the man. The body of the man tensed up, and his back arched while he was still unconscious. "Blood pressure raising...brain-waves accelerating." "Excellent," the doctor grinned. "Tell Commander Akayama that the subject is ready for a test." << TWO >> The man, King Green, was transported to the testing grounds far from the base. He was placed in a VF-2SS Valkyrie to await the test flight. The runway crew waved him into position, and Green turned the Valkyrie down the runway. Behind him, two VJ-2FAs were moving into position. The doctor stood several hundred meters away. He asked his assistant, "What are the two other Valkyries for? We are only testing one individual." The assistant coughed. "Sir, it's a new policy. An investigator has required us to assume security responsibility. I'm sure you know of the previous difficulties of the project." "Yes, and as soon as those morons in the head office grant me the necessary funding, we will be able to correct those errors." The crew gave Green the go signal. His Valkyrie left the runway and rose upward into the sky. One minute later, the next two Valkyries left the ground. The doctor entered the control center at the end of runway. Upon entering, the test was official starting. "Drone launch sequence completed. Launching now," a male operator announced. From the absolute end of the runway, a hangar opened, housing six drones equipped with missiles pods and laser cannons. They launched. Green had turned his Valkyrie completely around by this time. The launch of the drones signaled his brain into action. He changed to battloid mode, readied his gun pod, and began firing. When within range, the drones unleashed their vollies of missiles. Reverting back to fighter mode, he tore downward into the thick of them and dodged the missiles with incredible accuracy. Without a target to lock on to, the missiles exploded harmlessly behind him. Two drones had succumbed to his attack as he passed through them. He changed again, spun around, and began firing with his gun pod again. Another burst into flames. The other three began their attacks. With superhuman speed, he sped upward, then straight downward and plunged his fist into one of the drones, smashing it into several pieces. He flipped upside down, facing the rear of the drones. Fired again. Another was destroyed. Green felt a pounding in his head. He began to sweat tremendously. Despite the ecstacy he was feeling in the cockpit, he was overcome with fear. Before he knew it, he was flying in ragged circles, firing wildly. The drone was destroyed, but he continued firing. His screams of terror echoed from his intercom to the control center. The security Valkyries who had been hovering in Gerwalk configuration far away received the same message: "Destroy Lieutenant King Green's Valkyrie, including Green." They immediately initiated pursuit. Green was moving erratically. He saw them coming after him. He couldn't tell what they were. He just started firing and headed for them. The two targets dispersed around him, and assumed a rear attack posture. They fired their beam cannons, but Green had vanished from their monitors before they could accurately received a lock. The beams flew harmlessly away. Green was above them, in his own Gerwalk configuration, and was unleashing burst after burst upon the duo. One's cockpit was punctured. The Valkyrie soon exploded. The other Valkyrie veered upward to intercept Green. Green flew downward. They traded gun fire, but missed each other. Both turned around as they passed. But Green was too late. The security Valkyrie had followed up on Green's turn, shoved the beam cannon barrel forward at his cockpit and pulled the trigger. Green's screams and the explosion were prevalent. "Another failure, doctor?" the assistant lamented. The doctor clenched his teeth. He paused...then smiled, and said, "Not entirely." << THREE >> Chaz drove home in deep thought. Why had they put him on this assignment? Normally, he had run-of-the-mill duties to perform. This was something different, and there was more to it than they would want to tell him. Combat drugs that are addictive? A dangerous combination if there ever was one. Could it be helpful though? War, or even any conflict was something that made Chaz's stomach churn. He could see that it was going to be a long path to follow, and he's probably going to fall off of it a few times. At home, Sean was experimenting with a small orb of Chrianalite. Chrianalite was a metal found exclusively on the planet Grandale. Putty-like in form, it had amazing strength capabilities, and was repelled by electricity. Shapes could be made with it using the right amount and direction of electricity. Sean inserted a small globe into the orb, and then smoothed the top back over. He placed it upon a small disc on the table he was working at. Using a the panel before the disc, he pushed a few buttons. The orb hovered slightly above the disc. Sean smiled. Another few buttons, and two appendages extended from the bottom of the orb. A few moments later, Sean had a small figure of a humanoid. He stared at it for a moment, and scribbled some notes down on a notebook to the left of him. He pushed his hair away from his face and sat back some. Chaz had just returned home. He opened the door and yelled, "Hey Sean? Where are you?" Sean yawned. "In my room." Chaz walked in and immediately saw the small figure hovering above the table. "What is that?" "An experiment I've been working on, the electrical properties of Chrianalite. I've got nothing else to do. It's been so boring here today." "Then you're going to have to get out some time with your friends." "No. I don't want to." Chaz sighed a bit. What was happening to his son? Elizabeth's death must have hurt him more than Chaz thought. He had caught Sean just before he would have over-dosed on sleeping pills, and rushed him to the hospital several months before. He still seemed to torn between the past with dead mother, and the present without his mother. "I asked the Captain today if the base would allow you access to one of the Valkyrie simulators." Sean got a little excited. "And what did he say?" "I'll have to bring you by his office tomorrow, so he can okay it." Sean stood up and danced out of the room. Chaz was pleased that Sean seemed decently happy. "Where are you going?" he said after Sean put on his coat. "I'm getting out for a while." * * * Sean slipped into the arcade down the block. It had no name, it was just a hole-in-the-wall place that people called "the arcade." He hadn't been there in months, every since his suicide attempt. He looked around at the people playing, the kids running back and forth, and those eating various kinds of foods from hamburgers to cotton candy. He remembered the path to the Valkyrie machine from a while ago. There was a small group of people around the two cockpits, watching the screen above them. There, two Valkyries were battling it out. One of them exploded into a swarm of missile fire. The two cockpits opened, and the players got out. The winner's gang congratulated him; they then razzed on the loser. "Sean!" He heard a voice. "Hey Sean!" He looked around and saw his friend Jimmy Winnson carving his way through the crowd. "Sean! You've risen from the grave!" Sean shook his hand, "It's been a long while." Jimmy was one of those humanitarian types. He had short blond hair, and a smile that could con an eskimo into buying an ice-maker. He was dressed in his usual attire: jeans and a t-shirt that was half tucked in to his pants, the other half hanging out. Upon it was some advertisement for animated cooking show. "Well, I've had things to do." He didn't want to tell Jimmy the truth, or all hell would break loose. "So what's been happening in the land of the living." "Well, The winner of this game has been playing all day. As a matter of fact, no one can beat him." Sean cracked his knuckles and began heading for the opposite cockpit. "No! Sean!" Jimmy tried to grab for Sean's arm. "You're out of your league! This guy's TOO good! Don't waste your time! Let's get something to eat instead!" He followed him. "And besides," (Sean has already sat down), "you don't know what'll happen to you if you win! They'll kill you!" The opposing player, Gerg Vale, had been one of those people who played upon intimidation to win his games. His whole gang was shouting obscenities at Sean. Sean merely extended his middle finger at them and smiled. Greg smiled and pulled his hair back in a pony-tail and sat down. "Enter player constant code," the female voice of Sean's cockpit hummed, "or hit enter to begin a new career." He replied, "Sean Chaz. 98705-Delta-Alpha." "Searching...," the computer chirped. "Acknowledged, Sean Chaz. Welcome back. Present victories, 78. Present, losses 1. Present draws 2." Greg's face popped up on a view screen. "Think you've got enough skill? Several pe..." Sean cut the screen. "Shut the hell up." His VF-2SS took off into the air, fully equipped with missiles. The cockpit hummed, "Enemy aircraft approaching at full speed. Estimated time to arrive, 20 seconds." He converted to Gerwalk mode, and hovered about in place. "Warning! Enemy missiles approaching!" Before shooting upward, Sean cut the cockpit voice. He took off for the approaching fighter, and let loose with a volley from the gun pod, and the cannons under the cockpit. Gerg was still in fighter mode, and veered off to the left, and converted into Battloid mode. He returned fire quickly. Sean responded accordingly. Sean took a chance and stood still for a moment. "Lock...lock...got it!" He fired another burst. The rounds crept up Gerg's left arm as he flew downward. Sean pursued, at a constant rate of speed, and a constant rate of fire. He tore downward, and planted his foot into Gerg's left shoulder. He promptly took off again. Sean laughed. His cockpit shook. He cursed himself. He had been hit in the back as he crept away. Sean turned and armed the gun pod again. He fired several times again. He could see the people cheering outside of the cockpit. A young woman walked into the arcade, and saw the crowd around the Valkyrie machine. She tried to get a good glimpse of the pilots, but could not. There she saw Jimmy. "Jimmy! What's going on?" Jimmy turned. "Hey Alli! I didn't expect you to be here!" "I thought I would go for a walk, and I heard a lot of cheering coming from in here." "Yeah, well the local champ is about to get waxed!" "Huh? By whom?" she asked as she ran her hand through her shoulder length black hair. "It's...," Jimmy said as he turned back to the screen. Sean's right leg was just blown off by Gerg's last volley of missiles. Sean screamed in anger. He shouldn't have let that happen. The lights in the cockpit were going off like wild, to simulate the damage. Sean reverted to Gerwalk mode and flew straight at him as Gerg continued the onslaught. "So Jimmy, who are the players?" "They're Gerg Vale and...," he said. He was then caught up in the cheers as Sean's fist crushed Gerg's head. Alli looked at the monitor above. She should have noticed the pictures of the players before. To the left side was Gerg, his picture at the bottom. The middle was from a middle perspective of both Valkyries. To the right was... She looked at the picture. Sean. Sean. She grabbed Jimmy's shoulder. "Jimmy!" "What?!" he screamed. "Is that really Sean in there?" "Yeah, why?" She stared at the cockpit. His right leg was gone, and his left rack of missiles was depleted. He rushed up to Gerg's blind mecha. "Bye!" he cried as he unleashed his last rack of missiles at point-blank range, aimed at Gerg's cockpit. It was over. Sean stood up from his cockpit, and the crowd cheered. He stepped out and several people congratulated him. Gerg got out and walked over to him with his gang. His four partners seemed like very short-tempered individuals. "Hey, flyboy!" Sean turned him. Jimmy closed his eyes for fear of what would happen next. He could see the fight in his closed eyes. Sean would get the beating of his life from Gerg and his gang. He opened his eyes. Gerg and Sean were shaking hands. "Nice job flyboy. If I knew it was you, I would have quit long ago. It's nice to actually lose sometime." "Not by much." Gerg slapped him on the shoulder. "Next time, you won't be so lucky." Sean laughed. Until he saw Alli. He quickly looked away. "That was a wonderful job!" Jimmy screamed into his ear. "Sean, you are simply the best!" Sean lowered his head. Jimmy was perplexed. "What's wrong Sean? You've won! What's there to be sad about?" Alli stepped forward. "That was a...," she paused, "...a good game Sean." Sean's lips said a thanks, but no sound left his mouth. He began to walk away, and as Alli began to step forward, he began running, even out of the arcade. She couldn't stop him. Alli asked Jimmy, "What's wrong with him?" Jimmy, "You shouldn't have made him feel so low back in high- school. He tried his best." "What do YOU know about it Jimmy?" her angered flared up. "A hell of a lot more than you do. And you know I'm right." Alli walked away. -=* END OF PART ONE *=- -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- MACROSS: ECSTATIC VISION -- PART TWO -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- BY ED HRZIC -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Part 1 is available at ftp.std.com . ----------------------------------------------------------------- Swing a comment or two around to me at "bd981@@yfn.ysu.edu". ----------------------------------------------------------------- ***************************************************************** WARNING: This part of Macross: Ecstatic Vision contains some scenes of sexual descriptions. 'Why is she here?' his mind screamed. He kept running for what seemed like miles and days. He finally ducked into an alley to rest. Then he cried. "You're not feeling well, are you?" a voice called to him. Sean looked up with wet eyes. It was a middle-aged man, possibly no more than thirty years old. He wore sunglasses, and was dressed in jeans, a jean vest, and sneakers. "What's the problem?" he asked again as he walked to Sean. Sean shook his head. He put his hands on Sean's shoulders. "It's about a woman, isn't it?" Sean remained silent. "Thought so. It's clear you don't want to talk. Whatever it is, I don't want to get into it." The man paused for a while. "But I can give you something that will make it better." Sean looked up at him, questionably. The young man let go of Sean, then reached into his vest. He pulled out a small box, the size and shape of a cigarette case. To Sean's knowledge, it could have been. The opened it, and there were several pills in it. "It can be better." Sean was too confused to think. The tides of emotions were crashing in his sub-conscious, and were drifting out into reality, controlling his actions. Sean nodded slowly as he stared at the pills. Sean had never done drugs before. He never intended to, but this was different. Life was falling apart. He knew that this was how one became addicted to drugs. To escape from reality. And he was all for it now. "Listen," the man continued, "since I can see you're pretty chocked up, more than I've seen anyone around, I'll let you have two trial doses. On me. If you like, and I *know* you will, you can come back. You'll see me around." He took Sean's left hand, then pulled out two pills. He put them in Sean's hand, and closed Sean's fist. "I won't take no for an answer." Sean looked down, thinking what would come later. "To use them, just lay in your bed and swallow one. One should do it. I guarantee that you will be back." He laughed, and walked off. Sean thought for a moment, then went back to the street to look for the man. He had disappeared. Sean headed for home. * * * He got home. His father wasn't there. Immediately he went to his room, and laid the pills on his night-stand. He looked at them for a long while. He thought above everything that flooded his mind. He reached up and took one into his hands. He laid back, and stared at the pill that he put between his index finger and thumb. Half of it was yellow--the other, pink. He sniffed it. It didn't smell like anything he could think of. As a matter of fact, it didn't have a scent to it at all. He closed his eyes and stuck it in his mouth. He let it stay on his tongue for several moments. Then he swallowed it. Sean could sense nothing different. It hit him like a brick wall. A vision of Alli, clad in a toga entered his mind. Sean now entered his own mind. She ran to him and embraced him, kissing him upon his face and lips. He put his arms around her, and returned her gestures, showering kisses upon her face, lips, and neck. He stopped and was about to say something when she spoke. "Don't talk," she said, "Just let it happen, Sean. Just let it happen." A tear rolled down his cheek. She brushed it away, and kissed the spot where it was. She ran her fingers through his hair and kissed him again. She pulled him down to the soft ground and on top of her. The ground was soft, almost like moss. They continued to kiss passionately. He hands rubbed along his back. His hands roamed her upper body. Squeezing, caressing, stroking, feeling. The breeze cooled their faces, which were becoming red with heat. His hands came to rest on her breasts, and he stroked them very lightly. She broke her kiss arched a bit, moaning. He kissed her neck. He sat back, drawing her up as well. She tugged at his shirt, and he pulled off her toga. What remained of her clothing was a pair of white panties, all lace, that remained at the lower protected portion of her near-naked body. She had beautiful pert breasts, and her complexion wasn't ghost-white, but slightly tanned. Sean always loved the way her body looked. Her long legs, her hips. He removed the rest of her clothes. He was totally naked. She embraced him again, eagerly. Something wasn't right, Sean thought to himself, but the feelings of her kisses over his shoulders was too much and the worry soon fled his mind. He laid her back down on the ground. He ran a hand up her outer thigh, which brought upon a moaning reaction. Slowly, carefully, he drifted his hand to her inner thigh. She yelped, then caught herself. He could see the tangles of dark hair inside of the panties. He ran his knuckles over the panties, which made her yelp again. Continuing to caress her inner thighs with one of his hands, he drifted lower on her panties with the other hand, stroking slowly and gently. She tried to shut her legs, but didn't work. Her legs wouldn't move. He moved over her, kissing at her breasts, and teasing her nipples with his teeth. She was crying out, grasping his hair in her hands. Sean was impatient. He moved back down, and slowly stripped her of the last remaining barrier. He slid them down her legs ever so slowly, relishing in the look of the coming off, just as he had seen in so many dreams of his. Her face was flushed red. He could see the dark mass at the juncture of her legs. He ran his hands up to it, and inserted two fingers into her moist femininity. She bucked upward, clasping her legs together, on his hand. He moved his fingers slowly, feeling how wet she was becoming at this stage. Pulling out, he put himself back over her. Kissing her deeply, and clasping his hands over her head with his own, he entered. She almost bit his tongue off. Sweat with sweat, moans with moans. They were a mass of limbs. She threw her legs around his waist. He could feel the sensations. He could feel the joy of sharing himself with another person. She was in his heart. He breasts bounced with every movement, and the constant yelps and cried were music to his ears. He could feel everything building up into him. Something was happening. He couldn't tell, but it was. He remembered what her had read about love-making. What he waited for was coming. Her cries were getting louder, just as his moans were. Something wasn't right. A loud ring pierced his ears. He snapped back to reality. His head hurt. He got up. His head felt heavy, and her was dizzy. He couldn't think. He tried to steady himself on the night-stand. Instead, he threw his hand around and knocked the lamp that lay there to the ground. It shattered. Sean screamed. He knocked the things off of his desk. He couldn't control what he was doing. He held his head. He ran out into the hallway, but tripped and hit his head on the ground. Everything went black. << FIVE >> Tom arrived home, still thinking about Ecstatic Vision. Why *exactly* had the drug been created? Something about it was very ominous. A drug to increase the combat potential of the user? The possible harm it could cause was not worth the benefits, no matter what anyone said. That was his opinion. He opened the door to the house. He saw Sean laying on the floor. His mind screamed in terror. "Sean! My God!" He dropped to his knees where Sean lay, and cradled him in his arms. * * * It was three days before Sean could talk. His father had taken him to the hospital and he was under constant supervision by staff from the base, as well as contemporary hospital staff. Ecstatic Vision was found in his blood stream. They informed Tom when they had found out. Tom lowered his head. "So, it's true. The drug has found its way out into the public." He shook his head. "Why would Sean do it?" The doctor adjusted the glasses on his face. "We've had several cases of Ecstatic Vision in patients. They usually take it for any number of reasons--just as anyone would turn to other drugs." "But why?" Tom stood up. "He has everything he wants. He's smart, he's physically healthy..." "What was the incident when he tried to commit suicide?" Tom froze. "We've read his file, Mr. Chaz. He's not emotionally well." "They said he was fine. His was cured." The doctor sighed. "I don't think he will ever be fully cured. I have a talk with Dr. Reqin. He said that your wife's death was a terrible blow to his life." "He loved his mother." "I know. There is nothing we can do right now. We can just wait." Tom was impatient. "Wait for what?" "I don't know." * * * Sean was in the hospital room. He was sitting up in the bed. He though about the drug. Everyone was calling it Ecstatic Vision. What the hell did he care? Everything was so confusing. The images of his Vision flashed in his mind. It was so blissful. Then the pain. What was it about him that was so damn confusing? Why was life so confusing? The door opened. Tom stepped in. Sean lowered his head and remained silent. "Hi Sean." Sean didn't say anything. "Sean, I'm not going to patronize you. You're too old and smart for that. I just want to know why." Sean still didn't say anything. "Sean *please* tell me." Tom pleaded. "I want to know. I'm your father." Sean looked up. "Alli." "Who?" "Alli." "What about her." Sean looked away. "You wouldn't understand if I told you." Tom sat down on part of the bed. "Try me." "She made promises. She didn't keep them." Sean looked down. "Now, she's come back, and wants me to be friends again. I saw her." "Then?" "Then, I ran. A man found me, and he gave me those pills." Tom nodded. "Is that all?" Sean nodded slowly. "We're going to have to start over Sean. From now. You're going to have to let your mother go. You're going to have to trust me. I want to be your friend, Sean. You can count on me." Sean looked up. "Please," Tom asked. << SIX >> "Sean, you're about to take part in a training exercise. One of our pilots is on medical leave. We need four to make a proper mission. You'll be the fourth one needed." Sean was already dressed in a pilot suit. The operator, a man in a lab coat and black hair, handed him a helmet. "You'll be flying with Ken Orain," the operator pointed at a young man, about Sean's height, with fair hair. Sean shook his hand. "I hope you're a good pilot. I'd hate to blemish my perfect record," Ken winked and smiled. Sean smiled as well. "I'm average. I practice at the Valkyrie sims at the local arcades." Ken thought a moment. The operator continued, "You'll be flying against Mary Rang, a half-Meltran pilot, and Omar Vil." He gestured to the two other pilots waiting. They had their helmets in hand. Mary was a shapely woman, and Sean couldn't help but admire the suit on her. Her dark-blue hair cascaded down her shoulders. Looking at her from the front, he could estimate that her hair ended about half-way down her back. She smiled at him. Omar was a tall African-American. Tall and built. He waved at Sean. "Well then," Sean spoke out, "shall we get started?" "Why not?" Ken said while putting on his helmet. Mary and Omar did the same. Sean was the last to. The each went in to respective doors, which led to cockpits. Sean sat down, and started up just as the operator had told him. Ken's image flashed up on his monitor. "Really, Sean. How good are you?" "I already told you. Average." "Good luck anyway." Ken disappeared. They both launched from their runways, and were off into the wild-blue-yonder. Sean screamed in delight. It didn't feel like the simulators. It felt *real*. Ken popped back up. "What are you yelling about?" "This is cool!" "Uh..yeah. Whatever Sean. They're coming up. Watch out." Sean converted to Gerwalk mode. "Sean?!" Ken screamed, "What are you doing?" "Trust me," Sean said as he fired. Where Ken went, Sean didn't care. Everyone were in VF-2SS Valkyries. Sean had picked them. They were his favorite. Sean was green. Ken was yellow. Omar was blue. Mary was red. The red VF-2SS returned fire. A smirking Mary appeared on the monitor. "Interested?" she said, then disappeared. Sean smiled. His gun pod burst as she dodged, and converted to Battloid mode. Trading gun fire, they almost danced in the air. Sean followed up into hand-to-hand as converting to Battloid as well. He grasped Mary's lower left arm. Sean always liked hand-to-hand combat in Valkyries. Not to mention the strength. Nice for ripping off limbs. That's just what he did. Mary smashed him with her gun pod in her free arm. Sean dropped the dismembered limb. "Aggressive, aren't we?" Mary popped in. Sean fired. She flew upward. His head hurt for a moment. He stopped for a moment to put his hand to his helmet. Then he realized where he was. By then, he dodged the missile attack, minus his right leg. "Shit!" Sean screamed. He converted to Gerwalk and took off downward. Mary pursued in Fighter mode. Sean slowed down a bit. He felt Mary's pod bursts that crept up the back of his Valkyrie. He turned into Battloid, flipped backward, and embraced the Fighter. He meant to shove the gun pod into the cockpit. Instead, it went to the engine. He fired. The engine smoked. Mary panicked in her Valkyrie. "Damn it!" Sean jumped off. "Where is he?" she looked around. She convert to Gerwalk, and spun around, expecting to find him right there. At least, that's what she expected from an average pilot. He approached from the bottom, firing upward. The rounds pierced through her cockpit. He gave the dead Valkyrie a kick for good measure. Ken popped up on the screen. "Hey Sean! We won!" Sean smiled, and headed back for the simulated runway. * * * "I can't believe I got thrashed by an amateur," Mary spat. Ken smiled. "Believe it Mary. Sean here has some good potential. I think we can all agree." Omar acquiesced. "If you let me say so, Omar", Ken began, "you were pretty pathetic up there today." Omar grunted. "It hasn't been a good week for me." Sean stole a glance at Mary. "I'm on a natural high right now, gang. So how about if I buy everyone lunch?" Mary glanced at Sean. "Well, how can we resist an offer like that?" * * * Sean sipped his coffee. "So, how old are you?" Mary asked. Sean put the cup back down on the table. It was 7 o'clock exactly. Omar and Ken had left about an hour and a half ago. Mary and Sean were the only ones left. In this quaint little shop, only four other people were sitting and eating. "Eighteen." "Oh, so you've graduated from high-school, right?" Sean nodded. "So, what do you do in your spare time? Don't you have a job, or something like that?" Sean drank again. "I write a lot. I've had some of my works published. I also wrote a book, 'Face On The Moon.'" "Was it popular?" "It got around, but never any real notoriety. I guess I could have put more effort in to the book, but that was during the time my mother died." Shock flushed Mary's face. "I'm sorry." "So am I. My father says I should let go--but she's still there, and I can't let her go without a greater part of myself." Sean shook his head. "Sorry about getting so philosophical. It comes with the territory." "Don't worry about it. You've had a lot that's happened to you. You should be thankful that you still have your sanity." She didn't know how far from the truth she was. "Not really." Mary was puzzled. "What do you mean?" "A week ago, I took some Ecstatic Vision." Mary thought a moment. "Ecstati-" He face froze. "You mean, that new drug on the streets?" "Yeah. It was a drug developed here on the base. It just recently got out into the public. Somehow." "What happened?" The effects of the drug ran through his mind. Alli's features. The warmth. "I think I'm still emotionally unstable." Sean started to sob. Mary took his hand. "Sean..." Sean shook his head. "Come Sean," she pulled him up from his seat. They walked out of the shop. "Come with me." Sean didn't feel like resisting. "Things will get better." Sean, deep down, didn't agree. >>> END OF PART 2 <<< ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( MACROSS: ECSTATIC VISION -- PART THREE ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) BY ED HRZIC ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( ----------------------------------------------------------------- Previous parts available at ftp.std.com . ----------------------------------------------------------------- Swing a comment or two around to me at "bd981@@yfn.ysu.edu". ----------------------------------------------------------------- ***************************************************************** WARNING: This part of Macross: EV contains some scenes of sexual descriptions. Mary was busy dressing herself in the mirror on the other side of the room. His back was toward her. What had he done? Just what had he done? It was a sin. He shuddered at what punishment would soon wait him. Mary had finished buttoning her shirt. She was done dressing. "Sean." Sean didn't answer. She walked over to him, and sat down on the bed. She reached over and stroked his forehead. "Sean." He turned over to look at her. "Sean, I was going to ask you when I could. You were so careful earlier, so unsure. Sean, was it your first time?" Sean looked away. "It was your first time! Sean, why didn't you tell me?" Sean still looked away. "Sean, I'm here for you. You cried my name, and that warmed my heart. Sean, tell me." Sean started to cry. "Sean," she motioned to him. Sean threw his arms around her and sobbed. "I'm so lonely..." She rolled over on the bed and cradled him in her arms. As he cried, she stroked the hair on his head. "Just let it all out Sean." Half and hour later, Sean had finished telling her his life story. "It doesn't matter now, Sean." She looked down into his eyes. God, how she saw the pain that flooded his mind, heart, and soul. She kissed him. She wanted to comfort him any way she could. He seemed so fragile, almost ready to break from the emotions that controlled him. She kissed him again. "Oh, hell. I just finished getting dressed." He nuzzled his head against her chest. She closed her eyes and smiled, while unbuttoning her shirt. * * * "Cryanalite?" "Yes, sir," Thomas said. The Captain thought to himself for a little while. Thomas stood firm at the Captain's desk. The Captain then looked at the file on the desk. "A cryanalite Valkyrie. It has potential." "My son thought so. He's the one who came up with the idea." "Speaking of which, how is your son? After he-", the Captain couldn't think of what to say, to avoid stepping on touchy territory. "After he took the Ecstatic Vision, sir?" The Captain sighed. "Yes." The Captain paused. "I didn't want invade into something personal." "It's personal sir. May I comment, off the record, of course?" The Captain reclined. "You may." "It's personal to me. I want to get my hands on the lousy son of a bitch who gave Ecstatic Vision to my son." "Sounds like a vendetta. I feel for you, Thomas. But remember this: don't let vengeance obstruct your job." Thomas calmed a little. "I know, sir." "Good. I'll give this concept to our engineer to review. I think he may be happy with it." "I hope so." "Did your son fly in the Valkyrie simulators?" "Yes. I dropped him off at the sims earlier this morning, but I haven't seen him since." The Captain looked at his watch. "Well, it is time to go home. I wish you the best, Thomas." Thomas smiled. "You too, Captain." * * * Mary moaned deeply. She was kneeling astride Sean on the bed. His hands gripped her hips as he arched with every thrust. She jumped a bit, and sand back down as he did. She threw her head back, and shook her head to allow her hair to fall down her back. Sean knew it was wrong. Why did it feel so good? He groaned again and clenched his teeth together. It felt like the vision again, and yet, not like it. His pulse was picking up, and he could feel hers too. A knot was tightening in his stomach. He flailed his arms outward and grabbed at the sheets. She bent over him, and kissed him on the forehead. He tilted his head back and kissed her left nipple. He made a quick, deep thrust, just to see her reaction. She gritted her teeth and yelped a light, feminine yelp. The knot was growing. She was moving faster. He could not only hear feel her pulse and her cries, but feel them as well. He was gripping at the sheets, then at her. His mind raced. The adrenaline in his veins threatened to replace all his blood. Her breathing increased. He thrust. Again. Again. Again. Then the world shattered, and he screamed out Mary's name. But he didn't think of Mary. He thought of Alli. The knot broke, and the ecstacy of it threatened to expel all of his bodily fluids, and every nerve in his body shook. Mary collapsed on him. He let the events seep into his skull. He then began to cry. Again. << EIGHT >> Mary stopped in front of Sean's house. It was 7:32 pm. "Nice house." Sean actually spoke. "Yeah." She stroked the back of his head. "Sean, you're a good kid. Actually, I should say man." She smiled. "I want to see you again." He looked up at her. "I do too." She kissed him. She stuck her tongue into his mouth. Is this what love is supposed to feel like? After a while, she broke the kiss and smiled again. Sean got out of the car and walked to the front door. She waited until he stopped at the door. He turned around and waved. She did so too. Opening the door, Sean's father met him. "Sean, what have you been? It's past 7:30." Sean walked past him. "I know. I'm sorry. I should have called, but I got side-tracked." Thomas was upset and concerned. "Side tracked? How? How did you get side- tracked?" Sean sat down in a chair. "After the sim, I got together with the pilots and we started talking. They all had to leave, except for one pilot named Mary. We just got to talking." "All day?" "Well, we went back to her place and talked. We had dinner too." "Nothing else?" Sean didn't want to lie. He had always told his father the truth. He didn't want to start lying now. "No." Thomas relaxed a bit. "Okay. I'm just worried Sean. After you took that Ecstatic Vision, I thought you might have done something rash." Thomas didn't know the half of it. Sean thought about Mary's swaying body in his mind, and the way she cried out. Thomas broke the silence. "By the way Sean, I gave the Captain the design, just as you asked." "What did they think?" Thomas kneeled down to the side of him. "Well, the Captain thought it was a good idea. He was going to drop it off with the engineer before he left." Sean thought deeply for a moment. "Are you alright?" "Hmm?" Sean snapped out of his trance. "Oh, yeah. Just a little drowsy." "You should get some sleep. Jimmy called twice. You haven't heard from him in a long time." "Yeah. I should call him back." "Also, that one girl also called, what's her name? That one girl from high school?" Sean gritted his teeth. "Alli." "Yeah, that was her name. She called about six times. Said it was urgent." Sean had no interest in talking to her. "It can wait." "Sean, she was pleading, almost begging. Maybe you should call her." Sean stood up. "Why the hell should I? I pleaded and begged! Did she listen! Fuck no! I'm tired of it!" Thomas shot upward. "Sean!" He calmed a bit and looked down. "I'm sorry dad. When you have a wound that is healing and is ripped open again, how am I to act?" Thomas hugged him. "Sean! You're going crazy!" "I'm sorry dad. I'm sorry." Thomas held onto him like he was life itself. "It's okay." "I'm going to sleep. I'm tired." Thomas broke the hug, and held Sean by the shoulders. "You look it, kiddo." "'Night dad." "Good night, Sean." * * * Sean turned on the CD player in his room, and laid down. He let the lyrics of the music fill his ears and his mind. "Just one time, I heard you crying. Just one time, I saw you weeping. Was it because of me? Was it because of something I did? Was it because of something I said? I could hear the words you told me. I could feel them hit me as hard as a fist. Now, please, let me go, or hold me again. I just want to tell you, that I truly love you. I can't always show it to you. But whatever I do, But whatever I say, But whatever happens, I love you, and always will." His mother's words seeped into his heart. She had always made his poems into songs. He always let her keep the credit for writing them. She objected, but it was what he wanted. He drifted off into a sleepless sleep. << NINE >> "Captain, you handed me the design of a cryanalite Valkyrie." "That's right." "Well sir, I'd like to start funding immediately." The Captain looked up at the young engineer, Raymond Tell. Tell all, he sure did. Always what was on his mind. The blonde hair was cut rather short, and his brown eyes stared directly at the Captain, but not at him. Tell always had a habit of looking at no one, but talking to them. "Do you think it's feasible? I mean, would it be prudent to make such a Valkyrie?" the Captain asked. "The convert times would be much quicker. Not to mention, we could shape it into several different forms. Not just the standard fighter, battloid, Gerwalk combo, but others--how about a panther?" Tell laughed at his own cleverness. The Captain grunted. "I'll draw up the paperwork as soon as I can." "And Captain?" "Yes?" "Is it possible that I may speak with the designer? I quite admire the details in these designs." "I'm afraid he's very busy, but I think I can squeeze in a spare moment." "Who is he?" "The busiest person alive." Tell didn't understand. "Who is...?" "He's a teenager. What do you expect?" * * * Sean sat at home in the recliner. He was enjoying a show on TV. It was something called "The Crys Saga." He was watching intently, just as the 22 episode was ending. He flicked around the channels randomly. The phone rang. Sean had called Jimmy earlier. That only meant one person left... The answering machine kicked on. "Sean." Alli's voice shocked him like electricity. "Sean..." Sean looked away. "Sean, I know you're there." He was going to reach over and turn the speaker off. "Sean, I called Jimmy. He told me you were home." He reclined back and began to ignore her. "Sean, please pick up the phone." Sean did nothing. "Please," she was begging. Silence. "You don't know how much it hurts..." Sean, in a rage, reached over and snatched the phone. "What the fuck do you want me to say?! Do you want me to welcome you back?! Huh?! Is that what you want?! Just so you can leave again?! NO! NO! DAMN IT I SAID NO!!!" He slammed down the phone. He was so mad, he punched a hole into the wall. Something he had never done before. The phone rang again. He picked it up again. "I TOLD YOU, NO!!!" "Excuse me, is this Sean Chaz?" Sean sighed, and felt guilty. It was a young man's voice. "I'm sorry for yelling. I thought you were someone else. I've had a rough afternoon." "Then it wouldn't be a good time to talk to you face, to face." Sean was puzzled. Who was this stranger? "Who are you?" "Looks like I have to apologize now. My name's Raymond Tell. I'm an engineer on the base. I want to talk to you about the Cryanalite Valkyrie you designed. It can wait if things are too hectic." Sean shook his head. "No, no. It's okay. I need to get out. Where do you want to meet? "There's a restaurant on the Locke street, right next to Terra road." "I'll be there in half and hour." * * * It seems that Sean was telling his life story to everyone that he happened to meet. Raymond Tell was no exception. They chatted about the design of the Valkyrie, and just what cryanalite would be a suitable substance. "But why Cryanalite?" Sean drank the rest of the liquid in his cup. "Well, I was playing with a ball of it one day, since they sell it at toy stores." Tell laughed. "Toy stores?" "Shut up." "Sorry, please continue." "Well, it's a fact that Cryanalite reacts to electricity and water. Using electrical charges, I made a little humanoid out of the cryanalite I had. It only took a little while for me to get a better idea. Then I started working on the Valkyrie design in my spare time." Tell looked down at the file again. "Some piece of work. As a matter of fact, we are starting production on the prototype in a few days." Sean was shocked...and a little proud too. "A few days?" "Yep. With your help, of course." Sean sat back and grinned. << TEN >> Sean crept home. He swung open the door to the house and sat down in the chair. "What a rush." He was still thinking about the Valkyrie. He had been helping with the design for the past three days with them. Engineering was tough work. Sean laughed. He was getting a light headed from being too proud. He glanced around the room. The answering machine blinked. There was a message left. Sean's demeanor changed. For the worse. He went over and clicked on the Review button. "Hey handsome," Mary's voice echoed. Her voice warmed his heart. "Sorry I didn't see you for the past two days. There's been a lot going on here on base." Sean understood. "There is supposed to be an awards banquet for my squadron tomorrow. I would like you to be there." He was intrigued. "Then, we can have our own awards banquet afterward." She laughed a little. Sean blushed. "Don't blush," she said, and laughed again. "I'll give you a call later tonight. Bye." The machine softly beeped. Sean sighed, and was about to go to the kitchen to get a sandwich. The machine kicked on again. "Sean," a frantic female voice said. It was Alli's mother. "Sean, I need your help. Something has happened. Please call me when you get a chance." It clicked off again. Sean picked up the phone and dialed. * * * "Thank God you've called, Sean." Sean didn't wish to call, but he had to. "What's the trouble?" he said in an unenthusiastic voice. Alli's mother didn't notice. "It's Alli." Sean rolled his eyes. "And?" "She's been in her room for three days. She doesn't smile...she doesn't talk...she doesn't even eat..." Alli's mother sounded worried. Without a clue, Sean shot, "What can I do about it?" "She constantly looks out the window, at the grasslands, holding that small stuffed bear you gave her for her birthday." The image of the small gift appeared in his mind. The time at which he gave it to her was clear as a bell. She had shunned it as a rather unimportant gift. That was the beginning of the split. "So? What does it have to do with me? That could be just a reflex reaction." "Sean, it was after she called you when she became this way." Sean was felling guilty, but stood firm in his belief that he had done the right thing. "Sean, please talk to her. I don't want her to stay like this. You can do something." Sean had never been angry at Alli's mother before. His rage was starting to burn. "And what would you have me do?" "Talk to her, Sean. Bring her out. If not for her, then for me." "For you? Frankly, you were one of the ones who never wanted me as a suitor, if you'll call it that, for Alli. You, just like Alli, forgot that *I* was there, and that *I* held an interest in her, too. You always concentrated on Kevin! Never me! Damn it! I *loved* her!" There was a silence. "I know, that's why I called." Sean shook his head. "No, you don't understand. I *loved* her. That was in the past. When she forgot all about me, that's when I quit all thoughts of her, and forgot about her." "Please, Sean. Then do it because you're a good person." She was crying. "Please." The phone hung up. Sean slammed the receiver down. He looked over to his reflection in the mirror to his left. "See what you've gotten yourself into, you stupid bastard?" Sean lowered his head, and took a deep breath. "Why should I go? She caused nothing but pain. They want me to relive that?" Sean laughed. "No thank you." Something happened. A song in his mind sung. "I just want to tell you, that I truly love you. I can't always show it to you. But whatever I do, But whatever I say, But whatever happens, I love you, and always will." "Son of a bitch." Sean opened the door and began walking. << ELEVEN >> Alli sat in her bed and gazed at the scenery. She was dressed in her pajamas. The bird were chirping; she could hear them from inside. She looked down at the small bear she clutched in her arms. It was so small and fragile. She swore it looked like Sean. Was that why he bought it? To remind her of him? The birthday flooded her mind... "Here you go, Alli. It's not much. You know I'm not good at doing anything, or even buying gifts." He smiled a bit handing her a small package. "Oh," she looked around from where she sat, "Thank you." She took it and put it on the table. "Aren't you going to open it?" Sean asked. "Hmm? Oh," she grabbed the package again, "of course." She pulled open the wrapping and pulled the small bear out of the box. She looked at it. "It's...nice." Sean could see she was uninterested. He was hurt. "Hey Alli!" another voice shot over at her. Alli got up. She walked over to the voice. It was Kevin. Sean, lowering his head, disappeared back into the shadows where he belonged. 'It's...nice.' 'It's...nice.' 'It's...nice.' She kept playing the line over in her head. She stroked the head of the small bear. She looked back at the birds. 'If I could, I would go back and change things.' She winced bit, and closed her eyes. She opened them back up, and happened to glance in the open doorway. Sean was standing there. She looked for a few moments, then turned her head away. "Ah," he said, "we see who runs now." Alli didn't answer. "I'm talking now. You always said I never talked enough. That's what you want." "I should have said-" Sean assumed a more convicting pose. "You're damn right you should have! Should have told me everything. Everything about how people thought I was a fucking idiot, and always made jokes. No, I was never the one to know shit about anything." Alli shot back. "You don't know how much I tried! Tried to tell you everything! Tried to include you in everything! You were never satisfied, and were always bored with me! You always left!" "Are you so sure, Alli? Why do you think I did all those things to be with you? For my health? Or just a fucking big coincidence?" Alli winced at his use of foul language. Sean was getting angrier. "Oh, so we have sensitive ears now? You're so pathetic, Alli. Why did I do it?" Sean paused. "Because I loved you. I loved you more than life itself. I loved everything about you. You just didn't acknowledge it, even though you knew. I was just another person for you to forget." "I didn't forget Sean. I-" "I ceased loving you when you became pregnant. God, I can't believe you slept with him! Son of a bitch, I was so damn foolish!" Sean laughed and lowered his head. "Sometimes I thought about you and I getting married at some point. I was saving myself for you. How stupid!" Alli didn't look at him. He looked back up. "He's gone now. Left when he found out you were pregnant." Sean was feeling pretty good about himself up front. Deep down, he was hurting. "I guess that miscarriage really fucked up your life, didn't it? Well, you've screwed up mine, too." Alli was starting to cry. "The tears won't affect me now, Alli. My heart turned to stone *long* ago. Now, *I* have someone. She knows me. She cares about me. She loves me, and I love her. It didn't mean much good saving myself for you, since you didn't save yourself for marriage to anyone as well." Alli looked up at him. Sean crossed his arms. He stepped forward to the bed. "Yes Alli. I slept with her! And what joy I felt! More that I had ever felt with you!" Alli threw the bear across the room and stood up. "Is that all you ever wanted?! Was to sleep with me?! Would that help?! Is that what you want?! Here!" She started to unbutton her pajama top. She took the top off and threw it on the bed. She was starting with the bottoms. "Stop!" Sean screamed. "Why?!" Alli screamed back. "It's what you dreamed about! Isn't it?! You told me!" "Not anymore." Alli cried. "Sean! Just forgive me! Please!" she fell against him. Sean stood there a moment as she cried. For some reason he was about to put his arms around her quivering body. He stopped and gritted his teeth. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away to the bed. Alli continued to cry. Sean turned around and got to the doorway. "I LOVE YOU! WHY CAN'T YOU BELIEVE ME?!" she screamed at the top of her voice. Sean didn't look back. "You first." He walked out and closed the door. Alli laid on her bed and sobbed. '...really fucked up your life, didn't it?' '...really fucked up your life, didn't it?' '...really fucked up your life, didn't it? Well, you've screwed up mine.' '...screwed up mine.' '...screwed up mine.' She didn't even put her pajama top back on. She looked over to the wall. There was the bear, laying upside down against the wall. It had a frown on its face. She quickly went over and picked it up. She looked at it for a moment. She could swear it was crying. She hugged it tightly, and went back to her bed. She pulled the covers up her body. Taking a deep breath, she opened her stinging eyes, and reached over to her night-table. She rummaged around in one of the drawers, and pulled out a yellow and pink pill. She swallowed it and breathed again, just as the tremors and visions of Sean started to wrack her body. >>> END OF PART 3 <<< ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( MACROSS: ECSTATIC VISION -- PART FOUR ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) BY ED HRZIC ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( ----------------------------------------------------------------- Previous parts available at ftp.std.com . ----------------------------------------------------------------- Swing a comment or two around to me at "bd981@@yfn.ysu.edu". ----------------------------------------------------------------- ***************************************************************** WARNING: This part of Macross: EV contains some scenes of sexual descriptions. 'Why the hell does this have to happen to me?' "Damnit!" he screamed as he walked down the street. No one was around to hear him. "Didn't I deserve to be happy? Don't I deserve to be happy? At least once?" Sean stopped in his tracks. "Aren't you happy now Sean," he said to himself. He hung his head down. "I don't know. I don't know anymore." * * * He got home to six o'clock exactly. His father still wasn't home. "Oh shit! The banquet is tonight at ten!" He had forgotten to call Mary. Picking up the phone, he dialed the now-memorized number and waited. "Hello?" "Hey Mary." "Sean! It's good to hear from you. I didn't know if you wanted to go tonight, since you didn't call." "I'm sorry, things came up." He re-phrased himself. "A LOT came up." Alli flashed into his mind. "I'll come by tonight and pick you up. The banquet shouldn't take too long. I'm not much for parties. I want to see you most of all." "Thanks Mary...I-" Her voice became soft. "Hey, you don't need to say anything. I understand." "No," he said. "I have to. I've made mistakes before and-" "Sean." "I love you Mary." She was silent. Her tears could have come through the phone. "I love you too, Sean. I love you more than life itself." The phrase his Sean like a fist. He had said the exact same thing to Alli two years ago. He shook his head. "Then I'll be ready tonight at ten, alright?" "Okay. Bye handsome." The phone clicked. Sean walked into the kitchen and fixed himself a snack to eat before the banquet. He downed it fast, then took a long shower. The last few hours started to take his toll on him while the warm water streamed over his body. 'Do you really love her?' "Yes, I do." 'Are you sure, Sean?' "Yes I love her with all my being." Sean's conscience laughed. 'Are you sure you're not just seeking a substitute for Alli, by just changing faces?' Sean stopped and thought. 'I supposed as much.' "Am I that predictable? I do love her though." 'Well, I can't make that decision. You'll have to.' Sean thought of Mary. Her mind, body, and soul. She cared for him. Unlike another... "I DO love her," he stated to his now unconscious conscience. The water continued to sluice down his body as he dreamed of Mary's gentle form. * * * "Hey dad," Sean called from the living room as his father walked in. "What are you dressed up for?" Thomas was surprised to see his son dressed up in formal attire -- a dress shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes. "I'm going out with Mary tonight. She's asked me to an awards banquet." "Well, it's nice to see you taking interest in a woman. How old is she?" "Twenty-four." "A little old for you, don't you think?" "Dad! She's only four years older than me. It's not an incredibly BIG jump, like you and mom. Seven years." Thomas ignored his son's comment as he thought. "Did you call Alli?" Sean frowned. "Yeah, and I went to have a little 'chat' with her." Thomas knotted his brow. "What do you mean, 'chat'?" Sean gave an overview of what happened. Thomas sighed. "Well, if you think it was the right thing to do." "Yeah, I think it was." Was it really? Sean wasn't too sure. Maybe his conscience was getting to him. "Hmm. What time do you leave?" "Mary's supposed to come by at ten. The banquet was planned to start at ten, but you know how people are." "Are you going to get her flowers?" "Flowers?" "Flowers, you know, little petals, long stem..." Thomas smiled. "Dad," Sean groaned. "You've still got an hour. Maybe you should." * * * There was a knock on the door. Thomas opened it. "Oh, hello," he greeted Mary. She was wearing a black dress that with straps off her shoulders, and it stopped at her upper thighs. The red lipstick stood out on her form. "You must be Sean's father," she shook his hand. "Yes. Please come in." He lead her to the living room. "Sean should have been back by now. He went to get flowers." Mary blushed. "Oh, that Sean." "I've been meaning to ask," Thomas cleared his throat, "what are you intentions?" Mary was puzzled. "What do you mean?" "Sean's a very sensitive and emotional kid, God knows I love him so much, I don't want to see him hurt-" "I have no intention of hurting him. Sean's a wonderful person. I love him. Other than that, I have no hidden motives." "Good, I just wanted to hear that." He looked at a picture on the wall. It was of Elizabeth. She noticed his eyes absorbed the picture. "Is that your wife?" "Was my life." "I'm sorry." She examined the picture. "She was a very beautiful woman." "Yes, she was." Thomas looked down. "I'm sorry...I...I didn't mean to-" "It's alright." The door opened. Sean skipped in with a dozen roses. "Hey dad, I'm-Oh Mary! You're not supposed to be here for another half- hour!" "I came early. I wanted to see your house." Sean had completely forgotten about the roses. "Oh, these are for you." He stuck them forward awkwardly. She blushed. "Oh Sean." She took them into her arms and sniffed them. "They're lovely." She leaned forward and kissed him. Thomas coughed. "Well now, I've got some work to do, so I'll be on my way." He started on his way out. "Take care, Sean. What time should you be back?" He looked at Mary who winked at him. "We'll probably be out all night. Don't wait up." "Okay then. Be careful. It was nice meeting you, Mary. Perhaps we'll be seeing you more often here." "Thank you Mr. Chaz. I hope so too." Thomas left. "Let's go handsome." She put her arm around his waist and walked with him out. "I like your dress, Mary," Sean finally said. "I like your outfit too. But I bet mine looks better underneath," she teased. << THIRTEEN >> "And last, but certainly not least...for valor above and beyond the call of duty," the M.C. said, "Ms. Mary Rang." The audience of fifty or so began clapping. She walked to the front of the auditorium and took her plaque, getting a handshake and a picture with the Captain. She sat back down. She looked at the award and smiled. "Nice award," Sean said from next to her. He reached over, and putting his hand under her chin, kissed her gently. "I won't be able to control myself much longer if this ceremony doesn't end soon." An hour later, they vanished from the auditorium. Mary and Sean were the last ones to leave. She drove to her house relatively slowly. "They've nearly completed the work on the Cryanalite Valkyrie." "Wonderful! How much longer?" "About two weeks." "I hope it works out." He leaned on her shoulder. "Don't worry, it will." He had forgotten about Alli for the entire night. Entering her apartment, opened the window, and closed the door. She put the plaque and flowers down on the cabinet. It was 2310 hours. "Well, what do you want to do-" She was cut off as he embraced her from behind and kissed her neck. "Well now, that's not surprising," she purred. She entwined out of him, turned around and wrapped her arms back around him. "I meant to tell you that you smell wonderful. Is that Vanilla perfume?" He kissed her neck again. "Yes," she said in between moans. She was unbuttoning his shirt as she pulled it out of her pants. He tugged at her dress, which slipped down of her smooth thighs quietly. She looked down as it dropped, and her lace bra, garter, stockings and panties caught his attention. "I told you that what was underneath was better." She pulled him to the bed. He was getting flushed already. 'When did you become such a spectacular lover?' his conscience asked. 'Oh shut up,' he thought back. He was nipping at her nipples through the soft fabric, and she sighed. He kissed her again as she pulled off his belt, and unbuttoned his pants. Those items joined her dress on the floor. He pulled off the bra, and slipped the panties down her long legs. He never really saw how long they were. God they were beautiful. He kissed his way all the way up them, even to her inner thighs. She gasped. 'When did I become such a lover?' he thought. He shrugged it off and continued with what he had read about. He moved up to kiss her again. Slipping a hand down, he brushed her inner thighs, feeling how wet she was. She was grasping at his back. "Sean..." He sat up and pulled off his briefs. He laid back down on her, and suckled on another nipple. She bit her lip to avoid crying out. He twined his hands into her own, and kissed her. She twisted somewhat and threw her arms around him when he plunged into her softness. 'Oh my God!' There was nothing that he had felt that was so full of emotion. She yelped a bit, and shifted some more. He began the thrusting of his pelvis. She began panting as she kissed at his neck and shoulder. He arched his own back to drive deeper than he had ever done. She met his arch with her own. "Sean!" She paused like that for a few moments, and started her own movements to keep the rhythm going. The pulsating warmth, the pure feel of her body at his touch made Sean feel...needed...loved. He kissed her again. Again, the knot in his stomach was growing; he felt his body building up. She was grasping even more frantically, throw her legs around his waist and pulling him closer. She was moaning. He loved to here her moan. He was moaning as well. She loved to here him moan. She loved the feel of him. He seemed so confused, and out of control; she wanted to be an anchor for him, and a place to let out his feelings. He had a lot of feelings to let out. She loved every minute of those feelings. Now was one of them. She clenched her teeth. She was feeling it. Sean was thrusting faster and deeper. The whole world burst into a blaze of fire. Every nerve in Sean's body screamed. "Mary!" Mary arched her back and screamed. "Sean!" * * * It was four o'clock in the morning before either of them woke. "Sean?" she smoothed the hair away from his eyes. His eyes opened. "I love you," he said. She giggled. "What's so funny?" Tears came down her face. "Now what?" "I love you too." She hugged him. Sean started to cry too. << FOURTEEN >> Alli walked out of her room and into the hallway. Her parents were both gone for the day. They didn't want to leave her at home alone, in her condition, but there was no sense worrying more. They were teachers anyway. She walked into the living room and opened the closet. Peering around, she spied all of her old school things on the top shelf. Leaving to get a chair, she steadied herself, and one-by-one began to bring her things down. An hour later, she was surrounded my papers, and reading some of the papers intently. "Why don't you ever want to be with ME?" one of the papers said. "Fine, if you don't care, that's your choice." another said. "No, I don't want you to spend all of your time with me...How about just a little of your time?" another said. "I'll love you, no matter what happens." yet another said. She slowly put them back into the shoe-box, and closed the lid. Why'd Sean do it? Write all of those messages to her? He always considered himself an idiot. 'You considered him the bad-guy,' her conscience said. 'He wanted to love you.' Alli shook her head. "He was too obsessive. Always following me around." 'Isn't that what Kevin did?' "At least he talked!" she screamed. 'Who knows you better than me?' her conscience quietly said. It paused. 'True, he was carrying things a little far, but you could have said something as well.' "Oh really!" 'Fine. Do what you want. You think you're right and he apparently thinks he's right. Just remember who's the one who is having troubles here.' Alli hung her head. 'I don't care. Say what you want. If that'll make you feel happen, do so. I really don't care. You brought yourself into this misery.' "No, I didn't." 'Yes you did. A soft word to him could have continued it...or ended it. Instead, you were indecisive, just like he was. I cursed you. Do you remember how he cursed you?' Alli didn't answer. 'Well, I've talked enough. Let me know when you need me.' Alli sat there for several long moments. << FIFTEEN >> "Almost completed!" Tell screamed into Sean's ear. Sean winced. "Chill, will you?!" "Sorry. Another two days, and it'll be done!" Tell skipped off to announce it to the other project members. Two weeks had passed, and it the project was passing without incident. It frightened Sean. He had helped with the algorithms that the Valkyrie was to use. They were all done, and debugging had finished yesterday. All seemed to be in working order. The only left to finish was the cockpit orb. The Valkyrie was to be a re-enforced cockpit in the shape of an orb, submerged in a thick layer of Cryanalite. Various protrusions were electrical generators which would be used to make the Valkyrie morph. Other than that, Sean had been pleased with the entire project. She familiar perfume pervaded the area. "Hey beautiful." "How could you tell it was me?" Mary asked, walking in front of him. "I can identify that perfume anywhere. I know it's you." She walked closer. Her hands reached up to fix his collar. He had to dress up casually for the work her did. He and Mary had shared a lot about each other within the last two weeks. The had only made love five time within that time period -- not because they were losing interest, but because they didn't want their relationship to be based upon sex. They had become a pair, and the rest of the base personnel were noticing this as well. Sean was definitely in love. "Will you be able to go to lunch with me?" Sean looked down at his watch, and decided. Yeah, why not. "Yep. I'll be waiting outside in another hour." "Great." She kissed him lightly, and was about to leave. "Oh, guess what? I've been assigned to be the first test-pilot for the your Valkyrie." Sean was a little apprehensive. "Are you sure you want to? I mean, it's just a prototype, and there may be some bugs in it. I don't want you to get hurt." "Don't worry. Everything'll been fine. Bye handsome." She left. Sean turned to the rest of the eight-man crew. "Okay! Let's get going! We don't have all day!" They threw their empty paper cups at him. * * * Mary walked out of the facility. "Ah, Sean." She warmed herself just saying his name. She liked it. She was about to get into her car when a man walked up to her. He carried a briefcase. "Excuse me, Mary Rang?" Mary acknowledged him. "Yes, and who are you?" "My name is Doctor Delear. Research and Development. I have a small proposition for you." He tapped on the briefcase. Mary looked down at it. "You are assigned to pilot the new Valkyrie, correct?" She nodded. "Yes...that's right. What about it?" "Is there somewhere else where we can talk, Ms. Rang? Don't worry, I'll make the entire proposition worth your while. "Get in," Mary said, opening her door. Her car left the parking lot. << SIXTEEN >> Two days passed quickly. Then is was finished. "It's done! It's done! IT'S DONE!" Tell was running around, screaming. If he had thought of it, he would have done cartwheels and kissed everybody in the building. Sean was happy, but something was nagging at the back of his mind. He couldn't push it away. He tried to act more enthusiastic about the project, but it just wouldn't go away. "Aren't you happy Sean?!" Tell was screaming. "No, I can't hear out of this ear!" he pointed to the one next to Tell. * * * "Sean, what's wrong?" Mary asked, noticing his quietness. "Nothing, I think." "What?" She cut the meat on her plate in two with her knife. "The project's done but-" "Then you should be happy!" She ate a piece. "-something's wrong, I know it." "Oh, don't be such a pessimist. Here," she took her glass of wine into her hand and raised it, "to the project...and us." Sean clinked glasses with her. Still, it wouldn't go away. * * * The next day was the big day. Most of the base's R&D people were out there, among several different figures on the base, and off-planet. Sean and Tell, the leaders of the project, got a chance to greet all of them. Sean swore his hand was going to fall off from shaking so many hands. Sean and Tell walked to the observation deck. "Damn it," Sean cursed. "What?" Tell asked. "Something...something's been nagging at me for the past two days. Like something's wrong." "Don't say that! It's bad luck." Sean snorted. He saw Mary being escorted to the cockpit-pod down on the runway. She was walking quickly, almost in glee, as if a child getting to play with a new toy. The crew closed the pod when she was in, and it was lowered by crane into a very large container that housed the layer of Cryanalite. The crane disengaged all of its equipment from the pod, and it sank into the container. Up in the observation deck, checks were running. "Heartbeat okay...air flow okay...electric pulses okay!" The young woman checking turned to the deck's operative and signaled. The sides of the containers folded downward. There was a large sphere of Cryanalite sitting in the middle of it. "Here we go," Tell said, putting his hand on Sean's shoulder. The crowd was watching intently. The sphere was taking shape. The nose, then the wings, then the tail. It was in perfect Valkyrie shape. It rolled off the container onto the runway. "Alright!" Tell yelled, slapping Sean on the back. Something's wrong. The Valkyrie launched amid the gasps of amazement from the crowd. It took off into the air as easily as any other aircraft. "Launch okay," the woman announced. Sean was watching from the window. Well, it had worked. "Combat maneuvers commencing in 5...4...3...2...1...0." The pods flew from their places on the far side of the runway. Ten of them circling upward, homing in on their prey. Closing in fast. The Valkyrie turned, and morphed to dragon form. The claws, wings and head shown brightly. Harnessing the reflection of the sun on the Cryanalite, and focusing it, the mouth of the "dragon" fired a huge stream of energy at the incoming horde. Three were decimated by the attack. The others launched their missiles. The dragon swooped downward, then upward behind the pods. * * * "Well, it's going quite well, Sean. I think we can retire off the earnings," Tell joked. "Yeah," Sean was watching the battle. He heard someone's footsteps behind him, and the person stood somewhat next to him, gazing out of the glass. Sean didn't like him one bit. The way he 'felt'. Sean shivered. Nonchalantly, he glanced over at the man's tag. Doctor Delear. What the hell did he want? * * * It morphed into Battloid form, and turned its arms into two huge axes. Charging for the pods amid the gun-fire, Mary cut another three in half. She roared past, and morphed a hand into a rifle. Two more fell. Two more left. * * * "Wow, those reflexes are unreal. Is she Meltran?" Tell glanced at Sean. He shook his head. He still didn't like the Doctor. Something about him. Sean stole more glances at him. Suddenly, the doctor turned to look at a man sitting at a control panel. The Doctor nodded, and the other man nodded back. The man then started to manipulate the controls in front of him. Tell had moved forward to the window. "What the hell is happening?" * * * Mary's head hurt. She had been doing fine in earlier. The pain shot through her head again, and throughout her body. She trashed the remaining two pods, and moved erratically for the runway. Then her guns blazed. * * * "Son of a bitch!" Sean screamed. "What-" The observation deck was in panic. Sean looked over at the Doctor. He was smiling. 'What the hell-?' Then Sean realized. "OH LORD JESUS!" He ran out of the deck. "Sean! What are you doing?!" Tell followed him. * * * Those on the runway were scattering. Mary could see what she was doing, but couldn't control it. Trucks were exploding. She fired at the far buildings. Smoke was rising everywhere. 'Sean...Sean, help me...' * * * "What the hell are you babbling about Sean?!" Tell called up to him. Sean was putting on his helmet and boarding the Valkyrie. "Ecstatic Vision! She took it for the prototype mission!" "What Ecstatic...what? Have you lost your mind? Get out of there Sean!" "Raymond! She's my friend and lover. I have to do something!" "You're not even cleared to launch! You're going to get killed or worse!" Sean closed the cockpit. 'Okay Sean, this time it's for real,' he thought. * * * Mary still had no control. 'When will this pain stop?' She was firing the Solar Cannon randomly. Several lives had been lost due to her. 'Sean.' She could see the Valkyrie battloid arise in the horizon. Sean's image came up on the screen. "Mary!" She couldn't answer. Sean screamed. "Mary!" He looked at her face. It looked drugged and in pain. "Mary, you have to stop!" Mary was closing in. Sean fired to deter her attack. She dodged and swung downward with an axe. Sean flew backward, and thrust the Valkyrie's foot up into the Cryanalite. The surface rippled, with no other affect. "Damn!" he cursed. Mary slammed him with the flat of the axe, and he spun to the right. "I've got to do something..." Sean's mind searched. Mary had morphed back to Dragon and was firing. "Shit!" Sean converted to Gerwalk and flew downward. There was not enough speed. The Dragon's cannon tore the right wing off. Sean spun uncontrollably for a while, converted to battloid and landed. Mary landed too. It morphed to a Panther, and charged. Sean fired, but the shells vanished harmlessly into the texture. It bit onto his left arm. He threw it to the ground, leaving his somewhat intact. Sean took off again, and Mary, now in battloid mode, did as well. Sean was going up and up. "What to do...what to do..." He spun around and fired uselessly. Mary swung her axe downward. Sean was too late to parry. It sunk into Sean's left shoulder. Sparks were flying inside his cockpit. Frantically, he grabbed a hold of Mary's waist and started flying backward. They both spun in flight, struggling with each other, to no avail. Sean looked ahead to where they were going. The ocean. 'Of course!' Sean increased the speed as fast as he could go. Again, Mary thought, 'Help me Sean...' Sean turned her around in grapple, somehow, and flew close to the water. She was nearly submerged, and Sean has to struggle to bring her back out. Back to land. He went up and up. Mary broke free, and swung downward, taking his left arm with it. Again she swung at his legs, taking the left leg as well. Sean sped backward. He was sweating and panicking. Mary saw it. 'Stop...stop it...Sean...' The Cryanalite started dripping from the Valkyrie. Sean sighed somewhat. "It's working..." Mary charged again. Sean knew only one way. She swung downward into his right shoulder. The Cryanalite vanished from the front of the pod. Sean brought his gun-pod to bear in front of the pod. Mary finally had the strength to break free from the control to say it. Sean screamed it to as tears streamed down his face. Mary cried too. The both screamed out at once. "I love you!" Sean fired. Mary felt only release as the explosion destroyed her body. Sean was crying. "MARY! GOD NO! WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?!" He was falling. Sean fumbled at the controls frantically. No use. The thrusters were destroyed from the shoulder hits. The ground was approaching fast. He tried to pull out. << SEVENTEEN >> Thomas dropped the file down upon the Captain's desk. "Thomas?" "The Ecstatic Vision file, sir. It turns out that Doctor Delear was using high-frequency signals to control the users of Ecstatic Vision. The drug makes the body more receptive to those signals. He is now in custody..." The Captain sighed. "Very good, Thomas. You'll receive a commendation for this." Thomas dropped another paper onto the file. "What is this?" the Captain asked. "My resignation sir." "Your...resignation?" The Captain was shocked. "I-I need to be with my son," Thomas said, almost breaking down. "How is he?" "He is recovering from the crash, and will be relatively fine, but I've been away from him for too long. I need to be with him." The Captain sighed. "Very well, Thomas." He stood up, and shook Thomas' hand. "It's not going to be the same around here without you." "Thank you sir." Thomas shed a tear after leaving the office. * * * Sean sat in the wheel-chair that was in his hospital room. He thought a while. A long while. He listened. Nothing. He gripped at the handles of the wheel-chair. Why did this happen to him? One thing after another. He gritted his teeth. He rubbed his face slowly. The door behind him opened. "Hello?" he said as he turned the chair around. "Sean..." Alli's voice cut through the air. The door closed. Sean stayed silent. "Sean, I heard about your crash, and I wanted to come and speak to you, about the things I never did for you." Sean sighed. "Why...Just why didn't you tell me what you felt earlier? We could have been together. Happy. I wanted to be with you so much, but you always ignored me." "Ignore like hell! I worshipped the very Earth you walked on!" She rushed to him and kneeled at him, putting her hands on his knees. "Sean! Please, it can be different now, give me a chance..." "You never gave me another chance." She looked up at him. He was staring straight ahead. "Sean, look at me." He didn't move. "Sean! Look at me!" She started to cry as she got up. "Sean! Don't you see how I cry when I'm here! Look at the pain in my eyes!" He didn't look. She turned, crying, and left. Alli walked down the hall, still sobbing. She cradled the small bear in her arms. "Alli What are you doing here?" She looked up. It was Thomas. "Mr. Chaz..." "What's wrong?" They say down on the chairs in the hall. "Have you seen Sean?" Thomas asked. She cried. "He wouldn't even look at me..." "What?" "No matter what happened, no matter how much he was angry, he would always look at me..." He took her hand. "Alli, you don't understand." She looked up into his face. "What do you mean?" "Sean's...Sean's blind." She gasped. "He hit his head in the crash. It damaged his optic nerves, he'll never be able to see again." Alli gasped again. What now? What could she do? She cried and cried and cried, as Thomas held her. * * * Sean rolled the wheel-chair somewhere else in the room. He stood, grasping the rail of the window. He tried to imagine a picturesque scene, full of flowers, and grass, and birds. It wouldn't come to him. It couldn't. Sean started to cry. Cry and cry. The tears streamed down his face as he whimpered. He fell to his knees. He couldn't remember anything. Mary. Oh God, Mary, what have I done? He couldn't see her face, or her body. She was gone. All that Sean could see, all that he could feel, all that he could believe, was the Ecstatic Vision. >>> END? <<< AUTHOR'S NOTE: Here's the end of Macross: EV. There is a little more to this story.
